Atom Chainsaw Drilling Attachments have been manufactured for over
45 years in several model changes all utilizing Atom's well proven Automatic
Reverse Gear system. They fit quickly and easily to most gasoline chainsaws.
In 1992 the ATOM AUTOMATIC REVERSE GEAR AUGER-STOP model was developed,
and released for sale in late 1993.
In 1994 Atom won the following awards:
- 1994 New Implement Award of Merit at the Australian National Field
Days sponsored by BHP
- 1994 NSW State Bank FARM SAFETY AWARD. Highly Commended for
Innovation and Excellence
- 1994 Product of the Year voted by Power Equipment Australasia Magazine
Light and easy to use, the auger does not turn at idling speed but
automatically engages as operator starts drilling. To engage reverse
gear, operator simply pulls unit, and as the auger rotates in reverse gear it becomes free and automatically
changes back to forward gear and clears the shavings from the hole.
If sudden jamming occurs when drilling, the AUGER-STOP System (a world first) reduces
the risk of the reactive force by switching the gear box into neutral
gear, thus stopping rotation of the auger. The operator then pulls the
unit to automatically reverse the auger from the jammed position and
out of the hole.
The Atom Drill Attachment has hundreds of uses including fence post
drilling, building stock yards, tree surgery, electric power pole anti-rot
treatment, railways, park amenities and many other uses. Millions of kilometres of fences in Australia
have been constructed with the Atom Drill Attachment.
Atom's unique Automatic Reverse gear system allows the operator to
drill into timber for 2 to 3 inches (50-75mm), extremely quickly momentarily
reversing to automatically clean the wood shavings out of the hole, and
instantly drilling forward to complete the hole -- an extremely fast procedure.
This results in continuous and highly productive drilling of holes
in wood. Productivity from the Atom Automatic Reverse Gear Drill Attachment is up to 10 times
faster than other types of portable wood drilling machines. The larger the
hole the more productive is the Atom Drilling Attachment over all other
brands of drilling units.
